On August 10, 2013 at approximately 0147 hours, the Shot Spotter gunshot recognition and locator system alerted to several gunshots within the 2300 block of N. Congress Ave. Riviera Beach Communication Center also received a call in reference to shots fired in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, officers discovered a black male, later identified as De’Onte Jean-Baptiste lying in the street at the intersection of West 23rd and N. Congress Avenue on the south curb area. Jean-Baptiste was deceased on scene.
